Richard O. Spohr

Richard Otto Spohr, age 86, formerly of Berkeley Township passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at the VA Community Living Center in Philadelphia, PA.  Born in Newark, NJ, he spent most of his life in Toms River, NJ.

A U.S. Military veteran, Richard spent two years in active duty service for the U.S. Marines Corps. Richard was a pipe insulator for Local 32 (Newark, NJ) of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators for over 30 years before retiring.  Richard was a lifetime member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) and also a member of the American Legion.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Spohr; and his daughter, Dawn Goodman. Richard is survived by three sons and two daughters, Richard (Dominique) Spohr, Susan (Scott) Morisi, Donald Spohr, Keith (Claire) Goodman and Nicole Spohr; as well as grandchildren, Morgan Orozco, Paige Orozco, Joyce, Ryan Spohr, Matthew Spohr, Richard Goodman, Rachael Goodman, Katelyn Morisi and Dante Morisi.

"Otto" will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 3pm to 5pm at Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services, 1329 Rt. 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755.

His interment with military honors will be held on Wednesday May 8, 2024 at 10AM Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd, Newtown, PA 18940.
