March 22, 1955 – April 12, 2025
Beloved and Devoted Husband, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Brother-in-Law, and Loyal Friend to All.
Robert passed away suddenly on April 12, 2025 while doing what he enjoyed most, spending quality time with his loving wife, Mary Teresa, on a beautiful trip to Vermont.
It is impossible to put into words what Bob meant to all that loved him. He met a friend everywhere he went. The impact he has made is immeasurable. There was no-one like him. Everyone he encountered remembered him forever. Always quick with a joke, a kind word, encouragement, advice, a helpful tip. Anything that was needed, Bob was there with his support. Bob was deeply loved and respected by all. Bob was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. He was raised and grew up in Old Bridge, New Jersey before settling in South Toms River, New Jersey the early 1990s. He met and married his wonderful loving wife, Mary Teresa. They married on September 18, 1999.
Bob worked for Cal's Auto Service in Toms River, NJ for over 25 years and had been recently retired.
Bob had many talents. He loved to build and fix things. If there was something needed for the house or his wife's garden, he built it. He never went small; it was always beautifully done. He loved to help others with their projects as well.
Bob had a love for boating and became affectionately known as “Captain Bob” as he enjoyed taking friends and family out for a boat ride. Bob also had a love for trains and had an amazing collection. He was nicknamed “the train man” and “Choo-Choo Bob” by the many nephews and nieces that loved him.
He loved his “train buddies”, as they would frequently get together to work on their trains together. These were such cherished times for him. Another love of Bob's was playing the drums. He spent his younger years in Canada playing in a band. He recently started playing again as we discovered his talents never left. Bob loved music and had an extensive amount of knowledge on the subject. He was the go-to for any questions and a tough competitor at trivia. Bob loved animals, especially dogs. Known as the dog whisperer, dogs gravitated to him as they knew what a gentle, kind soul he was.
Bob loved an adventure. He was always ready to travel with Mary Teresa for fun, always with an itinerary, going on countless day trips to the beach or just spending quality time together. Bob's favorite times were being with family and friends. Always the life of the party, fast with a song and had great wit. Always greeting you with his beautiful smile and leaving you smiling.
A very important charity to Bob was Ocean's Harbor House in Toms River, NJ, where his wife was employed. Harbor House provides housing, supportive living programs for homeless youth or those in crisis. This is an amazing organization, and Bob was there any time needed in support. He loved going to charity events and even acted as greeter during many events. This organization meant a lot to him.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents John and Adelaide Bijeau, along with his brother, Alfred (Freddie) Bijeau, sisters Rina Auerback and Judy Burk.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Teresa (McGee) Bijeau, brothers; Jimmy Bijeau (the late Colleen) and Timothy Bijeau (Dawn). Also survived by sisters; Joanne Seitz, Barbara Bijeau-Burk and Ruthie Vartholon (Nick). Also mourning his loss are many adored nieces, nephews, close family, and friends; who he considered family.
A visitation will be held for Bob on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753. Following the visitation will be a celebration of eulogies by family and friends at 6:00 PM. Please feel free to bring your favorite memories and stories to share.
