Robert C DeVito, YoMate, age 80, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026. He was born and lived for 56 years in Clifton, New Jersey before eventually relocating to Manahawkin, New Jersey where he lived the rest of his years.
Known for his love of fishing, Robert, YoMate, will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his amazing strength and sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Diane. Their beloved children Dana & Vince, Jody & James, Todd & Karen. And his precious grandchildren, Lillian, and Julia.
He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years, owned his own Mason Contracting business DeVito’s Construction and was a firefighter in Clifton NJ for 25 years. After retiring from both jobs, he headed down to the Jersey shore to take, yet another job for 25 years on the Miss Barnegat Light. To escape the cold northern winters, he followed his passion for fishing and warm weather to Cudjoe Key, Florida.
A celebration of Robert’s, YoMate’s, life will be held at Manahawkin United Methodist Church in Manahawkin, NJ on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 3pm. The family invites all who knew him to attend the service followed by a gathering at the family home located at 1502 Paul Blvd in Manahawkin to share all their favorite memories.
