Robert (Bobby) Francis Lindsay, age 80, died on September 8, 2018, in his home in Toms River, NJ. Robert is survived by his aunt, Mary Jo Herr of Cape May Court House, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia Clynes of Jackson, Maureen and Gregory Merrigan of White House Station, and Doris and Thomas Briant of Toms River. He also leaves behind 11 nieces and nephews and 28 great nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his loving parents Robert Lindsay and Ellen Matthews Lindsay of Toms River.
Bobby was born on February 1, 1938 in Maplewood, NJ. He was raised in Clark, NJ and graduated from Jonathan Dayton Regional High School in 1957. He accepted a position at Merrit Food Town in Clark and later at ITT – International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation in the Maintenance Department. He moved to Holiday City in Toms River in 1977, where he became an active member of his community. Bobby spent many fulfilling hours volunteering at the Holiday Care Nursing Home.
Bobby was a devoted Uncle and great Uncle who never missed a chance to spend time with his family and loved ones. He was a trusted neighbor and friend, brightening their days with friendly conversation and his trademark smile. Generous and hard-working, he was always eager to lend a hand.
Bobby enjoyed rooting for the Yankees, caring for his yard, taking long walks, keeping up with local news and collecting rare coins. His family and friends will always remember him as a strong, courageous man and a kind friend and he will be greatly missed.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 9:00am at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 685 Hooper Ave, Toms River. Burial will follow at Whiting Memorial Park in Whiting.
