Prior to his retirement in 2000, Russ was a lineman for NJ Bell, (later Bell Atlantic) for 35 years. He was devoted to his wife, his children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was an amazing husband, father and poppy. His sense of humor and easygoing nature will be missed. Our lives are better for having known him. He will be missed more than words can say.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Mary; his children, Sherri Niers and her husband Geoff of Brick and Russell Kierstead and his wife Claire of Brick; and 4 grandchildren, Katelyn Niers, Ashlee Niers, Brayden Kierstead and Liam Kierstead. He also leaves 2 siblings, Winifred Caprio and Richard Kierstead; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and Art and Mary Williams, friends who are family.
Private services were entrusted to Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River.
