

Born in Jersey City, he lived in Bayonne, Linden and Elizabeth before moving to Toms River in 1966.
A US Army veteran of the Army Combat Engineers, Barry briefly worked for General Motors in Linden, NJ before moving to Toms River.
He was the owner of Barry Grand General Building Contractors, Toms River for many years.
He remained active in the construction industry even after retiring, and continued working until recently as a construction supervisor.
A member of St. Luke RC Church, Toms River, he was a member of American Legion Post 129, Toms River, and participated in the events at Lakewood Post 166.
He was a member of the Toms River Lions Club, and was a Caregiver Volunteer.
He was a former member of both the Pleasant Plains Fire Department and the First Aid Squad.
Barry loved music.
A drummer, he played in many different bands.
His love of music began at an early age when he would use spoons to drum on the wood floor.
Predeceased by his wife Dottie in 2014; his parents, Emanuel and Sally Grand; brother and sister in laws, Dominick and Betty Gaetano, Frank Gaetano, Catherine and Giovanni Maccio; he is survived by
three daughters, Donna Martin and her fiancé Angelo Nappi Jr., of Jackson, Michele Leahy of Beachwood and Bill Leahy, and Christina Grand-Eldemire and Eldie Anthony of San Antonio, TX; his grandchildren, Jessica, Stephanie and Samantha Martin, Rykkeyyia Grand and Koreyah Grand-Lipsey and her husband Larry, and Patrick, Melissa and Céilí Leahy; and his great-grandchildren, Jahliyah Stevenson, Zaymir Eason, Anaiyah Grand, Ariyah Grand Lipsey, Alyanna Lipsey, and Aiden and Austin Lipsey and TaJ Eldemire; brother and sister in law, Anthony and Sally Gaetano; sister in law, Diana Gaetano; his uncle, Jack Grand; his aunt, Dolly Kizima; extended family, John Martin, Ricky Odom, Robert Booth (deceased) and Thalia Alicea; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:15 am Friday at St. Luke RC Church, 1674 Old Freehold Road, Toms River.
Interment will follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
