Severa Maylas-Blanco Gelito, 72, a resident of Toms River, returned into the arms of our heavenly Father on May 29, 2020. She was born September 30, 1947 to Sergio Balarosa Blanco and Rosario Maylas Blanco in San Isidro, Ibajay, Aklan, Philippines. A 1968 graduate of St. Anthony School of Nursing in Roxas City, Philippines, Severa had most recently cared for hemodialysis patients as a Registered Nurse at Medical Center of Ocean County up to her retirement in 2015. She had lived across the world as the loving wife of a US Navy sailor, Jose “Bebe” Gelito who predeceased her in 2018. She continued her love of travel with her family and friends throughout the years. One of her greatest achievements and joys in life was being a mother to her two children and a Lola to her three grandchildren whom she would often babysit.
Severa was an amazing mother, lola, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be sadly missed by her two children, Tricia O’Sullivan with her husband John O’Sullivan, and Justin Gelito with his wife Tess Ryckman, and her three grandchildren Christian, Jared, and Ellen O’Sullivan. She will also be lovingly remembered by her siblings, Milagros Diocales, Wilfredo Blanco, Elenita Blanco-Pyle, her in-laws, Carmen Sitjar, Rita Ticzon, Maria Cleofe Gelito, Grace Gelito, Ramon Gelito, and all their families and friends. She is predeceased by her siblings Felimar Blanco, Elvira Costan, Elizabeth Blanco and brother-in-law, Fr. Tito Gelito.
