

Steven Rogers Brick, 70, of Medford, NJ died Saturday, October 17 at his home in Island Heights, NJ. Family, friends, colleagues and the sailing community of the Barnegat Bay bid a heavy farewell. Steven and his twin brother David were born in Camden, NJ on October 6, 1945. Steven graduated from Lenape Regional High School where he was a Varsity tight-end for the Lenape Indians football team. He earned a BA with Distinction in Economics from the University of Virginia in 1968. He often spoke fondly of his time at UVA where he was a fraternity member of TKE. Following graduation, he and Lynne Herbert married and Steven enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. After his military service, he and Lynne came back to Medford where Steven and his father, Justus, founded Brick Real Estate and he earned his MBA from Temple University. Steven married Debbie H. Brick in 2003.
Steven had a lifetime passion for sailing and the Barnegat Bay, where he was a lifelong member of the Island Heights Yacht Club. He was a prominent figure in sailboat racing on the bay where he was active in the rebirth of the historic wooden A Cat sailboat fleet with his restoration of “Lotus” and the building of “Lightning”. He served as President of the Sailing Foundation of Barnegat Bay and was a founding member of the IHYC Long Term Planning Committee. Steven was a lifelong member of Medford Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends. Steven was known for his honesty, integrity, and direct approach in business and in life. He will be fondly remembered for his wit, banter, hearty laugh and engaging personality.
Steven is survived by his wife, Debbie Brick, his former wife Lynne Brick and their three sons: Scott, and his wife, Michelle, Adam, and Michael, and his wife, Becky; three grandsons: Landon, Dylan, and Noah Steven; siblings: Clark, Christine, and her husband, Lars Bornebusch, David, and Harry and his wife, Jeanette; and stepchildren Greer and Heather Scholes, and their son Greer, Molly Scholes, and Kate Scholes.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 11:00 am at Christ Episcopal Church, 415 Washington Street, Toms, River, NJ and a Quaker Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2:00 pm at the Medford Friends Meetinghouse, 14 Union Street, Medford, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Steven can be made to the Sailing Foundation of Barnegat Bay, P.O.
