

Thelma Ruth Norton, 88, passed away December 18, 2017 surrounded by her loving family in Pine Beach, NJ. She was born May 3, 1929 to Theodore and Mary Bennett and raised in Spotswood, NJ where her wish for a birthday pony led to a family business "Bennett's Pony Rides". Thelma was a homemaker; however she also worked as a Girl Scout Camp Counselor, Parkview School Lunch Aid, and at Leedall Products for a number of years.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Richard, beloved sister June Barnes, and 3 sets of supportive in-laws, Marie and George Krier, Margaret and James Witt, and Ruth and Peter Pawlowski. Thelma is survived by daughters Debbie McCall and husband Harry of Pine Beach, Donna Norton of Beachwood, grandchildren Jennifer Bogin, Travis Bogin and wife Brittany, Troy Bogin and Amy Davis, Ricky McCall, and two great-grandsons Jackson and Ryder. She is also survived by a beloved brother-in-law Ray Barnes and his sons Warren, Bruce, Robert, Jimmy and families as well as many other nieces and nephews.
According to Thelma's wishes there will be no wake. Interment is planned for Saturday, December 30th at Old Tennent Cemetery, 454 Tennent Rd, Tennent, NJ at 11:00AM. Afterwards family and friends are invited to share memories and celebrate Thelma at her daughter’s home in Pine Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association or charity of choice.
