Veronica Ann Butow

A. K. A. “Cookie Girl” for her delicious c c cookies, was a generous person who would talk to anyone about anything at anytime and offer her help to all who asked, as seen in her 20 plus years of service as an usher at St. Joseph’s Sunday 5 pm mass. In her youth she attended Lillian Dean Dance School, specializing is the art of Ballet and obtaining the school’s highest honor the Mary E. Dean award. She was a graduate of St. Joseph H. S., Ocean County College, and Montclair State University achieving a Master Degree in Theater. She worked as an English and Math teacher at various high schools in Ocean and Monmouth Counties, always being proud that all her students passed. Her first love was the theater attesting to her almost 20 years of work in the Ocean County College box office. Veronica believed she would not be remembered, however she will be truly missed by all. Surviving her are 4 brothers Raymond (Virginia), Paul (Rosemary), Edward (Leisa), Charles: 3 sisters Marie (Gerald) Cantalupo, Theresa (Gary) Cooper, Victoria: 7 nephews Jason, Robert Cantalupo, Jarrod, Shawn Cooper, Gerald Jr. Cantalupo, Paul, James: 2 nieces Mary, Laela also several grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents Paul and Vincenza Butow and niece Suzanne Cantalupo.

In lieu of flowers food donations can be make at St. Joseph’s Church food pantry.

A visitation for Veronica will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 8:45 AM to 9:45 AM at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ 08753. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 685 Hooper Ave, Toms River, NJ 08753. A committal service will follow at St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleums, 62 Cedar Grove Rd, Toms River, NJ 08753.
