Born in Kearny, he lived in East Newark before moving Holiday City in 2013.
Mr. Serafin was a Councilman in East Newark for many years.
Prior to retiring, he was an Operator for the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission for over 25 years.
He was also a chef, and worked as the Food and Beverage Director for Holiday Inn, Livingston, for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; his sister, Diane Fazio and her husband Don of Toms River; a niece, Kristen Shaw of Toms River; two brothers-in-law, Charles McLaughlin and his wife LouAnn of Manahawkin and Kenneth McLaughlin and his wife Pat of Conway, SC; his sister-in-law, Diana McLaughlin; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
Cremation was private under the direction of Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River. A memorial gathering and service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 10am-12noon at the funeral home.
