I believe it was about 44 years ago when I was in Vince's 5th grade class...and to this day, without hesitation, when asked my favorite teacher, I say "Mr. Gregitis". We loved him because he loved us (his students). I trust Vince understood the enduring, positive influence he had on his students, including yours truly.

I'm happy I got to reconnect with him years later through our mutual friends, the Brosius family. Vince & Jim Brosius made quite the pair and, together, they make up the Mt. Rushmore of 5th grade teachers. I am richer for knowing Vince and will be forever grateful for all the life lessons he taught me...not to mention the thanks I owe him for keeping me out of the stockade in Williamsburg (we had many laughs over the years recalling the details of that class trip!).

Rest in peace, Mr. G. You were truly one of a kind and they broke mold after you.

I met his oldest daughter, Kath, when I was 11 and she was 9. Instant friendship. Also an enduring one. Still close after 51 years.
To me, Vince Gregitis was the ideal of the perfect father. Both capable and kind.
The wonderful thing is that his kids, Kath, Dave and Patty, knew it and gave him decades of love in return for all he had given them of himself.
His was a life well lived. I am grateful to have known him.
