Virginia “Cissy” Aiello, a cherished resident of Point Pleasant and formerly of Toms River, gracefully departed this life on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey. Born in Newark, the vibrant 66-year-old spent her childhood in the welcoming sands of Seaside Heights, surrounded by the love and laughter of her family, fostering a lifelong passion for summer beach excursions.
Cissy was a proud alumna of Central Regional High School in Bayville, furthering her educational journey at Glassboro State College. After attaining her degree in 1978, she became an esteemed member of the college's alumni, now known as Rowan University. As a woman of strong faith, she was a dedicated member of the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church, contributing to her community with the same devotion she formerly offered as a Deacon at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River.
Her departure leaves an unfillable void in the hearts of her dear ones. Her radiant spirit was preceded in passing by her beloved mother, Jane Marsh, her father, Arthur Marsh, her brother, Harry Marsh, and her sisters, Joyce Gibson and Joan Gericke.
Surviving Cissy is her devoted husband, Michael, with whom she shared 44 blissful years of marriage. Her legacy also lives on through her children: Christopher Aiello (Lauren), Jayne Chesterman (Ryan), and Stephanie Somma (Peter). Cissy's unconditional love extended to her seven treasured grandchildren: Camryn, Dean, Hayden, Bradley, Avery, Ellie, and Brynn.
Cissy's vibrant persona, coupled with her loving nature as a mother, sister, friend, and wife, made her a beacon of joy and warmth in countless lives. She was known for her lively spirit, often seen relishing a glass of wine at the local Charlies club or by the pool, radiating positivity and sharing her faith in the Lord. A true disciple, Cissy took immense joy in sharing her faith with those fortunate to cross paths with her.
In addition to her inspirational role as the neighborhood's beloved "Bar Minister," she was an extraordinary mother, dedicated to nurturing her children's dreams. Her profound empathy made her an irreplaceable friend. As a sister and wife, she was an unfailing source of support, offering wise advice, generous in her love, and exemplifying forgiveness. Cissy's authentic spirituality left an indelible mark on every life she touched.
