William Roy Ennis, 85, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Jan. 27th, 2013, at home. Born in Paterson, NJ, he lived in Waldwick before moving to Toms River in 1966. William was a veteran of the Army Air Corp. He was the Assistant Ocean County Engineer for ten years, retiring in 1987. Mr. Ennis was a member and past Commander of the A J Weeks VFW Post #6063 in Toms River. He served as a member of the Ocean County Planning Board, and attended Faith Baptist Church in Toms River.
He was predeceased by his wife Gertrude “Trudy” Ennis in 2000. He is survived by two sons: William G. Ennis and his wife Lisa of Hilton Head Island, SC, and Richard A. Ennis and his wife Debra of Toms River; five grandsons: Brian, Daniel, Kevin, Robert, and Richard; and one great-grandson Ryan.
Visiting will be Thursday 11:30 until the funeral service at 12:30 at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. Burial will follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to The Wounded Warriors.
