Oh Abe..here I was trying to track you down to reconnect, and you have already left. Memories of Salter Street, The Studio, cooking, laughing and hunting for Honey pots at garage sales... you were dedicated to your Mum, James, family and friends.. Of course I am saddened, I hope those close to you will remember this smile and your carefree demeanor and find some way to smile back at you... Peace

We first met Abe in 2007, on a diving expedition in Fiji, where he was with James.
We also enjoyed being with him on other dive trips, his 50th birthday party in Toronto (with Abe's family) and at Pine Gate with James and Gary, and during a visit he and James made to San Diego to visit us one December (that was supposed to be warm weather relief from the Toronto cold, but ended up being not-so-warm!). He told some funny stories, including some about going through the TSA procedures on flights.  Of course, too, we’ll miss the Jim-Jam animations.

He always was so clever, cheerful, and smiley in spite of the medical problems he had for the last many years.
We feel fortunate to have known such a truly nice person.

His loss will leave a large hole in many lives, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
We will miss this kind, cheerful, good-natured, intelligent man.

To his family whom he loved, cherished and was so proud of.  To James and Gary, the Studio Building and the Pond will not be the same without his prescence.  Abe was always so thoughtful and caring towards me, I will never forget those moments. I have just learnt of his passing whilst in Greece, on the island of Monemvasia, situated at the southern tip of the Pelopennese.  Rest in peace dearest Abe, you are in my heart forever.

I have such fond memories of Abe. This is tragic news, and my heart goes out to James, Gary and Abe's family.

Dearest Abe  .. we called ourselves the Three Musketeers... three disparate characters that had so much in common .
It was a an absolute pleasure to know darling Abe from the very first moment we met in Fiji ...  ah what sweet memories ... and every other time we were together will remain in my treasured moments ... Dearest Abe , darling friend .... farewell ❤🙏

Our hearts go out to Ada and Anna and family - our sincerest condolences. Abe was an amazing friend and one we will cherish in our many memories of our adventures together. 

Abe was a good man. He will be missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to have met him and spend time with him. Over the years we had shared meals, stories, laughter and good times. We always thought we’d get to see you again once the pandemic was over.  Abe, Terry and I will miss you.  Rest In Peace my friend.

Abe was in my life as part of a circle of friends through high school in Peterborough and later university in Toronto.  We shared adventures and many glasses of wine along the way.  It seemed we would run into each other briefly every decade,  at everything from a gallery showing to a street corner in Toronto.  The moments all shared the love and affection that lingers as I write this note.
To Abe's family I give my love and deepest condolences. Your open house and generosity of spirit were a gift to all who were fortunate enough to be there. Abe carried that same spirit in him,  in who he was at heart.
To Abe's dear friends my thoughts are with you, in  bearing the pain of your loss.  It was a kind and generous man you shared your lives.

Theo Abe, as I knew him, was always a cheerful face at the many family events and dinners he was at. A huge personality that always had exciting stories to tell and photos to show about his trips to Fiji. I remember several trips up the ‘country house’ with him and his friend James, my sister and I loved to feed the fish from their deck. He always spoke to me as if I was an adult, which I loved. So cheers to Theo Abe, a life cut short but a live well lived

When I think about Abe, I think of a kind, caring, thoughtful soul who always had a smile or something funny to share. Abe was such a special part of your family, and he was always so warm and welcoming with all of us.❤️He included us as family always, and for that, we will always be grateful. He will be loved always and dearly missed by his family and friends. We are truly sorry for your loss. Sending love and hugs to you all❤️

Abe was a kind and gentle soul from the first day we met at work.  Meeting at L'Hotel at a time when I needed friends.  He was there and ready to help me be the person I would become.  His zest for life was infectious and he enjoyed spreading that around.  Thank you for your love and support through all the years of our friendship. 

To all of Abe's family,
I'm so sorry for your terrible loss. What a shock it must be for you. Your Abe was so special.  Always with a smile, he persevered with his health challenges, so I thought he would keep on, and go on, the way most of us do and leave the world in  old age. Perhaps you knew better. To me, Abe was always sunny and cheerful. Honest about the trials of hospital visits, but shared stories with a hint of humour.  And optimism.
I met Abe when working on a documentary film about Tom Thomson in 2010. We hoped to film in the Studio Building, and Abe reached out with open arms, helped in every way. Not only did he welcome an intrusive film crew, and he even sent me new research finds he made on line! That was the beginning of a wonderful friendship. Abe loved the history, and was ever curious to know more. Our rotten crew even returned for a second film about Lawren Harris.  Abe was there! 
But it was much more than the film stuff. Abe was a kindred spirit, became a friend. I always looked forward to arriving at the Studio Building and hear his voice of welcome at the door. 
 May the beautiful, empathetic, patient, kind, wise and generous spirit of Abe remain with you, and all of us, forever. Abe was so lovely. I wish the world was carpeted with his way of being.
