It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alberto Arcuri after a long battle with cancer. Alberto passed peacefully with the love of his life, Antonietta by his side in the early morning hours. He is survived by his two loving daughters, Fiorina (Matthew MacAskill) and Stefanie. And by the Apple of his eye and his namesake, grandson Liam Alberto.
Alberto is survived by his sister Maria and husband, Carmelo. His brother in law Carmine and wife Debbie. Alberto is also survived by ten brothers and sisters in Italy as well as their spouses (Tonino, Rita, Fina, Pio, Fortunato, Giovanni, Alfonso, Vilma, Riccardo, Vincenzo). Alberto was predeceased by his parents, Eugenio and Fiorina Arcuri as well as his parent in laws, Rosina and Cesare Girimonte.
Alberto will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, their spouses and his great nieces and great nephews. From Toronto he will be especially missed by Tony, Fiorina, Daniel, John-Michael and Cassandra. He will be dearly missed by all of his nieces and nephews in Italy. Alberto also had great nieces and great nephew and will be sorely missed by those here in Toronto, Laura, and Brody
Alberto will be greatly missed by his neighbours, friends, Friday Night buddies and many colleagues. Alberto was always known to be outside on the veranda, waving and socializing.
Alberto came to Canada from Amantea Calabria Italy in 1982 prior to his wedding to Antonietta on September 24 1983. He worked his whole life as a Carpenter up until March 2024 when he retired. During his retirement, he spent most of his time reaching daily walking goals, spending time with his grandson and well as tending to his garden.
In January 2025, Alberto was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. He fought up until the very end. Even while in treatment, he was still able to have a bountiful garden, do work around the house and be there for his loving family. Special thank you to the Oncology Team at Humber River Hospital and Palliative Team through Dorothy Ley Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
