Born in Travesio, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy on February 11, 1934, Antonio grew up in his hometown. At age 19, he travelled to Mérida, Venezuela, where he began his career as a machinist. Two years later, he returned to Italy and was soon conscripted into the military, serving in the 8th Alpini Regiment with the Alpine Brigade “Julia” in Tolmezzo. In October 1956, he proudly won a gold medal at the national military precision shooting competition in Rome.
After his discharge, Antonio moved to Germany, working as a machinist in Braunschweig and later Ulm. In 1963, he traveled to Canada with his two younger brothers and made Toronto his new home. There, he eventually owned and operated his own machine shop alongside his brother, demonstrating his skill and dedication to his craft.
Antonio was the cherished husband of Giuliana for 56 years and the proud father of two sons, Joe (Gianna) and Claudio (Jennifer). He was also a loving grandfather to five grandchildren, Claudia, Chiara, Cloé, Aiden, and Nina, who brought him immense pride and happiness. He was predeceased by his brothers, Virginio and Matteo.
Throughout his life, Antonio devoted himself to his family and work. His warmth, kindness, and perseverance will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Jerrett Funeral Home, 1141 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto, on Sunday, May 11th, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Monday, May 12th, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a private interment at Prospect Cemetery, Toronto.
