Born on April 30, 1951, in the coastal village of Castelo do Neiva, Portugal, Antonio carried the warmth of the sea and the strength of his roots throughout his life. He immigrated to Canada in pursuit of opportunity and built a life filled with love, hard work, and deep devotion to family.
Antonio leaves behind his beloved wife of 49 years, Maria das Merces, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and unwavering companionship, married on February 1, 1976. He was a proud and loving father to Patricia (Maurizio) and Carlos (Bruna), and a cherished Avô to his grandchildren, Gabriel, Grace, and Isadora, who brought endless joy to his life.
A true handyman, He had a gift with his hands and could never sit still, —unless a soccer game was on. Whether fixing something around the house, lending a hand to a neighbour, or perfecting a project in the garage, he was always in motion. His passion for the beach, He loved to be near the ocean, especially long walks and lying in the warm sand, soaking in the sun and the peace it brought him. It was a constant reminder of his Portuguese soul.
Antonio’s presence was steady and comforting. He brought laughter, generosity, and a quiet strength to every room he entered. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to sit down with your loved ones and share a meal or drink - Antonio never took family time for granted, this is something his family will cherish for years to come.
