Arnim emanated such warmth in his greetings and gleamed with pride in the presence of his daughter, Madison. Colin and I extend heartfelt condolences to his loved ones, especially Madison.  May he rest in Paradise. 

Imagine being picked up in a red convertible in NYC and driving down the freeway with the top down and Sheila E blasting……I was with my uncle and thinking it was the coolest scene ever just great for the movies. Fast forward to the moments when he met my kids and cooked for us and labeled my husband Easy on the 5th. Then to the deep conversations on God and becoming a better person. Uncle Arnim was special. There’s no other like him! Love you more uncs….Rest In Peace 

There was never a dull time nor memory when Arnim came to town. The image was us all getting together for a night out on the Avenue. It was the first time I'd seen hm in well over two decades.  The smile speaks volumes. 

He was the Mayor of New York when he lived there as walking  through the borough one would  think we were back in Trinidad. He knew or was known by the butcher to regular Joe on the block.

That is part of what made him so unique... His charismatic nature, smile and soulful nature.

Always Smartly Dressed, The Coolest at any function. You will be missed my Dear Friend Mr Arnim Cook or “Cook” to his friends and I am pleased I was one of them he considered a friend. No one warned me, never add a chaser to  a drink of brandy in Cook’s house 😂😂😂. He laughed at me and even called Sheldon to join in but all great fun. A genuine caring human being who loved others & life. Miss you Big Brother Cook.

Although we were not related I am good friends with his nephew Allen so naturally I referred to him as Uncle Arnim and he treated me like a nephew.  He was a joy to hang out with, had the gift of gab, and was always dressed in the latest fashions.  This was the last time I saw him in November 2021 and we laughed all afternoon telling jokes and old stories.  He will be missed, condolences to the family.

This picture reminds me of the strong fighter my brother was. It was taken in 2019, shortly after his first major bout with his many heart challenges.  Arnim was always very hopeful, and constantly planned for life and living.  When he visited me, he demanded that I stay out of the kitchen. Cooking was his love language! He came with his own kit and cooked meals he knew were my favourites: callaloo; cow heel soup; curry for roti; pigtail. He also enjoyed music and dancing. In his later years, his faith became even more important to him. He was a committed reader of psalms, following in the footsteps of our dear Mum. He was loving and caring of the entire family and ensured he was present at any important events.  I was happy to be with him the day before he died, but I only wish I could have been there for him more throughout his last difficult months. Rest in peace dear baby brother. On behalf of our family, we love you and miss you already.

I remember as a young girl knowing I had triplet cousins and going over to their house in Cocoyea on Sunday’s with my other siblings Leslie Junior, March and Karen with my mom and his mom was very close, also with my dad Leslie Cook . Arnim is one of my first cousins (his sister and brothers) we grew up with.  He loved to joke around. 🙏❤️😊 

So many memories of my spunky, dapper Uncle Arnim. Family visits at my home in Ottawa or yours in Toronto. Fun nights out in Toronto in my University and early career days.  A marriage proposal at your home, and our excited and fervent knocks on your door to wake you up and let you know. Long talks ripe with measured advice. Knowing I could call you and count on you for anything, anytime. And more recent memories of your painful last months.  The love and gratitude in your eyes and your voice dulled the pain only slightly. I will miss you so deeply. I choose to focus on your brightest, happiest, most fun moments. Love to my cousins who must now know the absence of their loving father. All the love from your niece Treecy (Patrice), grand niece Mieko, and grand nephew Quentin.
