 A year has come and gone. The sun has risen, the snow has fallen and has placed a white blanket where you lay now, life has continued on. And although we carry on with our lives, our thoughts of you remain with us and guide us each and every day.
Although we may not be able to see you or hear your distinctive voice anymore, we will cherish the memories . 
Until we meet again.

We were so sad and shocked to here that  uncle Arthur had passed away so suddenly as he looked so well celebrating his 98th birthday.
We all have such lovely memories of our visits to Canada spending time with you all , he was such a character and always made us laugh.
I know you will all miss him dearly as he has been such a big part in your lives…..He certainly had a hard life but he was a strong man throughout it all and he is now with the love of his life auntie Coridwyn whom he loved dearly and missed so much when she passed away.
We all send you all our heartfelt sympathy from the UK in this sad time in your lives and we are so sorry we can’t be there to comfort you all and say our goodbyes to a very special man .
You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

“Old soldiers never die… they simply fade away “

On March 1, 2022 , my dad passed away, days after his 98th birthday.  It was a shock, as he looked so good. 

My dad was severely injured during WW2 at such a young age, but persevered. 

He immigrated to England after the war, where he met my mum and decided there were more opportunities in Canada. 

Grateful!!!

He was proud to be a Canadian!

He was a refugee who later immigrated to this country with nothing, no job, no financial support and worked hard to support a wife and raise a family and to live a good life.

He Left his Latvian family behind never to see his mother again. 
After 50 years of not being able to connect to his Latvian family, he finally visited his homeland, to see his brother Janis and sister Zenta. 
I think he thought  it would never happen.
I was lucky to have the opportunity to meet my Latvian relatives and see his homeland.

To the last of this strong generation, I honour and salute.
Thank you for all your sacrifices. 
My dad was one of a kind, unforgettable in every way. 
He will be missed.❤️

I was very shocked to hear of the passing of your Dad, Grandpa I know he will be truly missed but pls take solace in knowing he has been reunited with one of his favorite people his wife your mom/grandma and I know that brought a smile to his face.  Sending our deepest condolences to Vanessa, Zenta, Tamara and Tremayne and families.  May he R.I.E.P.  Pls remember it doesn't get easier but it will get a little better
