I knew him since 1962, when. as a young Jesuit, he gave a retreat at the Convent of the Sacred Heart. We did keep in touch over the years, and he baptized one of my daughters at St. Elizabeth of Hungary church in Toronto. He frequently provided kindness and wisdom in times of doubt. He remained a friend of our family. In the last message I received last Christmas, his most memorable words were: "Christ was born to us, He is with us. Hence our future is bright!"

He stood in line with the great academics of the Catholic tradition who also exuded with deep spirituality. Definitely a "kneeling theologian." May your legacy never burn out. Grateful as ever to be at the seminary when you were.

I was at St. Augustine Seminary from 1995-2001. I will miss Bishop Mikloshazy's dry sense of humour, his strong faith convictions, and his personal life stories from Hungary.
