Betty Price, born June 1, 1926 in Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026 at Norfinch Community Nursing Home in North York, Ontario, at the remarkable age of 99.
In her early years, Betty worked alongside her father at the family pharmacy and general store, where her strong work ethic and sense of community first took root. She later went on to build a distinguished career as an executive assistant working with politicians, a role she held for many years until her retirement. Politics was not just a profession for Betty but a lifelong passion. A staunch supporter of the Conservative Party, she actively participated in numerous municipal and provincial election campaigns throughout Toronto and Ontario, always committed to civic engagement and public service.
For more than 30 years, Betty made her home at 757 Victoria Park, where she became the heart of her community. She established social clubs, hosted gatherings year-round, and brought people together with warmth and enthusiasm. Her home was a place of friendship, laughter, and connection.
Deeply devoted to her faith, Betty was an active and cherished member of Wanstead United Church for many years. She organized fundraisers, hosted barbecues and yard sales, and faithfully prepared the weekly church newsletter. Her dedication strengthened both her congregation and the wider community.
In her later years, Betty developed a deep interest in ancestry, tracing her family roots back hundreds of years and reconnecting with relatives near and far. Her passion for family history reflected her lifelong commitment to preserving connections and celebrating togetherness.
Betty was predeceased by her sister Marilyn Sonley, her brother Bruce Sonley, and her son Larry Knight. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Lesley (Mike Minicucci) and Adam Knight (Hannah Knight) and her cherished great-grandchildren, Evelinh, Vincent, Hayden, Avery, and Avah Knight, who will carry forward her legacy of strength, involvement, and community spirit.
Promoting engagement, hospitality, and togetherness described Betty perfectly — a true testament to her long and vibrant life. She will be remembered for her energy, her dedication, and the many lives she touched throughout nearly a century.
