I came across Bill a couple of years ago at Focaccia. It turns out that we were the same age and grew up as kids in the same Boon St Clair West neighbourhood. We had many great chats over the past years over lunch at the restaurant, and his mother even remembered me as a kid.  Great experience any time that I took my construction comrades for lunch. Bill was very personable and a king of service.   All his clients agreed that Focaccia was a special place because of him and his family service.  Will miss you Bill.

I just learned this morning of Bill's passing (and of his father-in-law's).

My wife, Oksana, and I first met Bill late in 2003, when he was preparing to open Bloom restaurant in our neighbourhood. It has been our favourite restaurant, and have eaten there many times over the years.  Although the food is always excellent, it's been the welcoming atmosphere that Bill and Franca created that made it more than just a place to eat. We felt at home, and always looked forward to Bill's warmth and smile.

A few years ago, when we had  a  special event, and asked Bloom to cater it, Bill & Franca  more than generously donated the food and service.

We have been lucky to have enjoyed Bill's presence in our life, and will miss him greatly.

It is with great sadness that we write this. Bill, Maria and Franca were there for our family during a very difficult time in late 2018. Their kind words, constant presence and shoulder to cry on were so comforting to us. It didn't matter that we hadn't seen each other in years, it was as if no time had passed.  

Bill was taken much too young but his legacy will live on in his children.   His kindness and friendship will live forever in our hearts.

His passing was such a sad shock as we saw him just the night before, while we were out walking the dog. Bill pulled over the car and we had another wonderful, socially-distanced conversation, with him and Michael. This time, we were complimenting him on the great food he had just catered for our family. His face melted into that beautiful, wide smile of his. With further mention of Jennifer and the children, he just beamed.  What a beautiful light, he emanated!
We will always be grateful for your prayers and support and now we offer ours to you at this sad time.

I was so saddened to learn about the passing of your husband Bill. I wanted to share with you two thoughts. I had the privilege of meeting Bill on a few occassions while dining at Focaccia. From those few interactions it was so evident he loved you!! Bill was so smitten and proud of your accomplishments.
Secondly, to this day my husband and I still reminisce about the wonderful meals we had at Focaccia. Maybe I don't get out much but nothing has ever come close to those meals we had. 
There is no doubt in my mind Bill leaves a lasting legacy on the Toronto food scene and thats is something to be very proud of!
