It is with great sadness that the family of Bruno Giorgi announces his passing on 25 February, 2021 at the age of 81. He passed away peacefully at home while under the care of his family. Bruno was born in Bertiolo, Italy. He and his brother, Giorgio, were orphaned at an early age during World War II and were raised by their paternal grandfather in Sedegliano, Italy. He emigrated to Canada in 1960 and soon after married Edda. As an architectural draftsman, he spent most of his career with Gagliardi-Venchiarutti Architects. He contributed to the design of the expansion of the buildings that housed the McMichael Collection in Kleinburg, Ontario. He also designed many private homes throughout the GTA. Bruno was an avid soccer fan. He was a second-string goal keeper for Bologna as young man and then coached boys soccer for the Scarborough Blues for over 20 years. He also trained many coaches and saw some of the young men who played under him go on to play professional soccer in Europe. After his retirement in 2003, Bruno focused on Bocci, winning championships almost annually for his Bocci club in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Bruno loved music, especially from the big band era and was usually found on the dance floor at family functions.
Bruno is survived by his wife, Edda, his children Louis (Donna) and Diana (James) and his two granddaughters, Katya and Nicola. A private grave-side ceremony will be held on 05 March 2021 and due to COVID restrictions there will be no visitations. Donations in memory of Bruno can be made to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care at Mount Sinai Hospital.
