Father-in-law to Robert William Rush and loyal dog owner to King, passed away, peacefully, on
June 30th, 2020 at the age of 72. His time passed after a hard-fought battle with an aggressive
Cancer.
Charles was born in Orillia, Ontario on December 9th, 1947 to Mary Isabella Duffy and James
Bernard Cosgrove, who predeceased him.
Charles’ (Charlie) legacy was to make people laugh and smile, whether they wanted to, or not.
His message of love was ever-present in everything he did. He sparked up conversations with
everyone, wanting to make a complete stranger’s day a little bit brighter. It could be in an
elevator, on transit or even a neighbouring table at a restaurant.
He listened with an open heart and would venture to help people, who’s troubles with the
everyday became too overwhelming for them. He helped people look at their own path for what
it was and encouraged them to pull through. He believed in people when they couldn’t or in
some cases, wouldn’t. He believed that life was too short for bad feelings and “If you don’t like it,
then K.M.A.!” (pronounced ‘kay-ma’. You can only imagine what the abbreviation stands for)
Charlie was an award-winning employee, dedicating years of his life working at Dominion
stores, until the early 1980’s, then moved on to Inglis appliances for a spell.
His biggest work achievement was working for Canada Post for a stunning 25 years, where he
retired in 2016. He was not shy saying hi to people and brought even more smiles when he
randomly brought candies to work and would pass them around.
Upon retirement, Charlie found a nice place to call home and walked for hours with his beloved
dog, King, who kept him company until he passed. They were two peas in a pod and King was
his left-hand, furry buddy.
Charles is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Mary Catherine Lorne. He is survived by
his brother, Paul; his sister Susan; his ex-wife, DesNeiges; his son, David; his son-in-law Robert
and his loyal dog, King.
Charlie has asked that he be cremated and his ashes will be interred at Mount Hope Cemetary
in Toronto at a later date to be determined. A Celebration of Life will also occur at a later date in
2021.
