It is with great sadness that we report the passing of David Maxwell Cranswick. Dave passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, after a brief but feisty confrontation with cancer, perhaps the only battle he ever lost. He was much loved and will be terribly missed by his wife Chris Clark, his children Matthew (Jen), Kiley (Ryan), and Michael Cranswick as well as his grandchildren Alexis, Ashton, Austyn, Harper and Reese, and Chris’ children Deanna and Julian Soloninka. He is survived by siblings Dennis Cranswick, Deborah Graham, Sandra Richardson, and Susan Cranswick and their families.
Dave had a long and rewarding career as a Firefighter Captain in Toronto Fire from which he retired only 2 years ago, and was decorated with numerous awards and citations for his courage and dedication to service above and beyond the call of duty including the Medal of Bravery. He was a wonderful and fiercely loyal husband, father, grandfather, firefighter and friend. Those of us who love him best will most remember his unique character: distinctive, determined and defiant. He was a man, taken for all in all. We shall not see his like again.
Visitation will be held at Jerrett Funeral Home, 660 Kennedy Road, Scarborough on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday December 14, 2016 at Knob Hill United Church, 23 Gage Ave., Scarborough. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, if you would like, please consider a donation to the Toronto Fire Fighters Toy Drive.
“Everything’s going to be okay, Ma’am. Just relax. The Fire Department’s here.”
