DAVID BRETT PERRAULT of Toronto has passed away at the age of 66.
David was predeceased by his parents Jean-Denis Perrault & Marion Speck Perrault. He leaves behind his son Henri Perrault (mother - Anna Kiss); his sister Danielle McLaren (Dave); his brother Bruce Perrault (Diana) and his nieces & nephews Nicole, Julian, Angela, Ria & Erik.
David was born in Montreal on January 1, 1960. He grew up in Beaconsfield, Quebec and moved to Ontario in the early 1980’s where he began what became his lifelong career in the television and film industry. He was equally good with film cameras and still cameras and at family gatherings David was always the person behind a camera. He has left us with a wonderful collection of unique family portraits which we will treasure forever.
David was a Member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers. In David’s own words “my interest, and subsequent passion, for photography started with a birthday gift of a Kodak Brownie and a roll of film at the age of five. I think the influences of my mother, an acclaimed artist, and my father, an airline pilot, combined to fuel an interest in both the technical side of cinematography and a keen interest in the aesthetics of all visual arts.”
David’s second lifelong passion was music. He enjoyed listening, playing, performing, composing & producing. He built a recording studio in his previous home and he had a most interesting and vast record collection.
David’s family will hold a public funeral and ask that any memorial donations be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
