Dear Aunty Molly and family,
With deepest sympathies and condolences to all of you.
I have fond memories of Uncle David and his kind and easy-going personality.
Aware of my interest in history, he kindly shared recollections of his youth and the old days in HK and the Tavares siblings' families together on special occasions. Memories to be treasured!
Rest in eternal peace, dear Uncle. You are remembered with love and prayers.

We are so sorry for your loss. Uncle David was a great communicator. We found many of his letters that he had written to Mom and Dad over the years. All were so nicely written with the latest news. With the internet we got frequent emails on a wide range of topics. We enjoyed our many visits together both in HongKong and SF. Uncle David was very special to us with his easy smile and great sense of humor. We will miss him very much.
With our deepest sympathy,
John and Cathie Crowell
PS Found this old photo of David among my father's letters. Thought we'd share it with you.

This morning as we say our final goodbye to Mr. David Tavares, our thoughts and prayers continue to be lifted up to his family. We have known the Tavares family for as along as we have been here in Canada. We were neighbours which soon became family. We treasure the sweet memories of being part of their important celebrations throughout the years. Mr. David Tavares was a god-fearing man, a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grand-father and great-grandfather. He always had a smile even through the most difficult time. We will surely miss you but the hope we have, is we will see you again. Sharon and Fred.

With profound sadness, I send this condolence to the Tavares family. The late Mr. Tavaras is my beloved teacher who had equipped me with the skill to a career that opened up plenty of opportunities to me during my working years. May Mr. Tavaras rest in peace and may our heavenly Father continue to take care of him. Victor Sung

When we think of you, Uncle David, we think SWEET & GENTLE, we think GRACE & PEACE, we think FAITH & FAMILY, and it always rubs off on us in when we are in your presence — you made us more calm, made us holier when we’re around you.
Now you’re watching over your family and all of us who feel like family in your presence.
Thank you Uncle David.

I got the sad news when I woke up, though expected, I need time to reminisce your dad's kindness, patience, his love ❤️ towards your mom and family as well as all the encouragements and advices he gave me since September 1964 (when I became his first year student). Later, David recruited me to work in his Department. We built a very strong professional relationship .
I am honoured to be accepted into your family circle and dance a Rumba in his 50 Wedding Anniversay Celebration. We continued to keep in touch and often had get together whenever I visited Toronto,
May my beloved teacher, colleague, mentor and friend rest in peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Tavares family for their great loss.
I have very fond memories of Uncle David growing up as a child.
He had keen sense of humour & always took time to engage himself with my siblings and I, whenever our families get together.
I shall always remember him with love; admiration for his wealth of knowledge, and always touched by his kind-heartedness; may he rest in peace!
