Zerick was our neighbour.Zerick was our friend.
We are very saddened at his passing.
His life was complex...often a struggle against all odds.
He did the best he could,and more,with
the hand he was dealt.
He was self taught,yet always up to date on current local and world affairs.
He did not have the benefit of formal
training,yet was creative and had the
decorator's eye of a world traveler.
Zerick had a wicked sense of humour,certainly was very opinionated,
yet could be self deprecating.
He was very generous to his friends.

Michael,our thoughts and prayers are with you;we share in your grief.

So dear Zerick,the struggle is over...
may you now forever rest in peace.

I will miss my dear friend Zerick.  He was a Damon Runyan character - totally unique - a cutting wit - didn't tolerate fools easily - a survivor - loved and devoted friend to Michael - intolerant at times - creative - and next to his love for Michael was his love for his dogs.  A larger than life character.  The world is less for his departure from us - but now out of pain, and at peace!

Zerick was a very unique individual, a self-made man, a contradiction of character, an experience...He was creative and opinionated and temperamental and difficult.  He was loyal and loving and gentle and his humanity touched me deeply.  

I first met him in 1977, at the Roehampton Hotel where he was a bar tender/waiter - I introduced him to Michaelâ€¦They became friends, partners, roommates - brothers.  

The landscape of life as I have known it is forever changed with his death, with his absence - he will be missed, he will be remembered.

Zerick was a life long friend of my brother Michael and a beloved member of our extended families for 30+ years. He had a flair for life, a presence of the beauty in ordinary things and he shared that with all who loved him. His spirit will remain with all of us forever. May he rest in a peaceful place where he will never feel pain, never feel alone and will always feel love.
