Passed away peacefully, with his family by his on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Toronto Western Hospital, at the age of 92. Loving husband of Lai Wan (nee Wong) for 70 years. Devoted father to John, Loretta (Jon), Linda and Kevin. Cherished grandfather of Pamela, Kimberly, Aaron and Liam. Predeceased by his brother Jim.
A true gentleman with a sense of humour and a committed family man. Dick was the proprietor of Roy Lem Restaurant until retiring to Toronto. He loved spending his day off with the family going out on road trips or trying out different restaurants in Toronto. Dick was an active member of his alumni, joining in their travel excursions, music and dining out.
He was a man of many interests ranging from art, Chinese Opera, and cars. Dick was a ping pong champion and loved basketball and hockey. Family was important to him. Dick will be sadly missed by his family and longtime friends.
In accordance with the COVID-19 Regulations, and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario Guidelines, the service will be held at Jerrett Funeral Home, 660 Kennedy Road, Scarborough, Ontario on Monday, August 17, 2020 from 12 – 1 pm by invitation only to ensure that social distancing regulations are strictly maintained. A Celebration of Dick’s life will begin immediately following visitation. Interment at Pine Hills Cemetery.
The wearing of facemasks and providing of names and contact information will be mandatory for everyone who enters the building. Refreshments following the service will not be provided.
