Nonna, I remember when I always used to go to your house and you would make me tortellini and brodo. I remember when you would hug and kiss me a lot and tell me read, read, read write, write, write. I remember how you would always end our conversation on the phone or in person with love you, love you and a big kiss. Nonna, I miss you so much and I wish I could see you again to hug you and kiss you. Love you, Love you Nonna!

Ma, a year ago today at 8:20am while I was holding your hand you had to say goodbye; That was the hardest day of my life! I think of you every second of the day and always wish that when the phone rings and I pick it up, it will be you on the other end. Oh, how I wish I could see you, hug you, kiss you and just talk to you. I miss you terribly, we all miss you so much! Ma, you gave me the hardest job of my life and I hope I did well and that you're proud of me. Ma, I know that star in the sky I see every night that shines so brightly at my house, is you looking down at us. I hold tightly the cherished memories and I am grateful for all that you have done; but most importantly is that I had you as my mother! Thank You Ma for such a wonderful life!

Mom, one year ago today God made the decision to relieve you of your suffering and take you to his paradise! 
Not a day has passed that I haven't thought of you, cried for you or wished I could turn back time.
 I miss you so much.  
I get by each day thinking of all the wonderful memories we've made, which I hold so close to my heart.  Your love, affection, care, patience, kindness and forgiveness, has made me the person I am today....Thank You! You are our Guardian Angel and I know you are watching over us all. 
I love you always and forever.

We all remember the good times we got to share with you nonna, over the years I enjoyed many memorable moments with you. You were a good grandmother..always caring about your children and grandchildren, making sure we were always safe, healthy and of course full. you hallways made a feast when the families were together..I could barley move after I ate. All the good times at your house For Christmas and Easter with family and friends. I miss you nonna, I wish you were still here..but I'm relived your not sufferingand your in a better place with nonno and zio Paolo.

You always told me stories of Nonno & Paolo and how much you missed him and how you wanted to be with them again.Now, you  are in the graces of God in eternal peace with both of them and all of your family and friends. We shared our time of funny moments and stories. Like the time at the cottage when we were laughing so much it brought us to tears. Remeber " Chaka" ? hahaha what a great night that  was. Nonna, I miss you  immensely and you  will always remain deep in my heart. Always loved but never forgotten. Love you  Nonna.

Words cannot begin to  express the emptiness and sadness that is in our hearts. We miss you alot. Having you at home for lunch  and dinner get togethers. We look back on our fondest and most cherished memories of you and we see you  smiling and laughing, enjoying yourself at the beach in Florida , and at the cottage surrounded by the people you  love the most. We sit here thinking about the night we played the piano in the lobby and laughing so hard because we didnt know how to play. If God would have granted us one more visit to  Florida, like you had hoped for, it would have been our greatest pleasure to have had you  come with us again. Knowing that you  are in our hearts and in our thoughts always, the treasured memories that  we carry  of you gives us great comfort. We only wished that we could have done something more for you in the time of your suffering. We know that you  are in a better place alongside Daddy and Paolo, and hope that you have been reunited with them. I miss you  alot Ma.

Dearest Nonna , 

Its still very hard to believe your gone. Everyone has gathered to say our last goodbyes and honor you in the best way we can. You are incredibly special to everyone whos ever met you. You are one-of-a-kind and we all miss you terribly.

I know that you  are happy now where you are. I can only imagine how joyous the reunion was with all the family members and friends you've lost over the years . Please enjoy it and dont be sad for us.

You gave everything you had and more to make us all as happy as possible, and now its finally your turn. Your sacrifices did not go unnoticed. Your love is forever appreciated and valued more than you may ever know. I can only hope your reward is eternal happiness in heaven with all those you cared so much for. 

Nonna, the greatest reward in my life was knowing you and having Alessandra know who you were. Nothing in the world could ever replace one second of the time we were lucky enough to spend with you.

I can never forget the first night I brought Alessandra to your house after she was born. " Guarda, Guarda come e bella questa figlia " you kept saying. " Cia gli occhi tue Elisa" . I can still remember you ceaselessly tending to the flowers and plants . I know how much you  enjoyed them. 

I loved to just sit and talk with you about anything, no matter what the topic was. I remember all the joyous meals we all had together that you  cooked for us . You  laughed with me when I was happy and hugged me so warmly when I was sad. 

I close my eyes and I see a green-eyed woman . What a beautiful smile she has. She holds a cup of espresso in her hands laughing and sharing old stories around family. Shes an angel in house slippers and glasses. She was an angel long before today. 

God has a special plan for you, nonna. I think he knew heaven couldnt ever really be heaven without you. I love you and cherish you  with all my heart. I see you  in the sunshine and i feel your presence in every warm breeze.

You  sit now upon puffy clouds set against blue summer skies. You  are still with us all.

Nonna, please watch over all os us; but if I could ask you for one more thing, its that you  please watch over mom. Shes the best mom anyone could ask for. She gave up everything to care for you and help you in your last days with us, and she needs you now more than ever. 

Please stay in her heart and give her some of the strength you had. She embodies everything you  stood for: putting everyone else ahead of ourselves and our own wants and needs.

Thank you  for all your kindness and sweet words. Thank you  for your smiles and your hugs . Thank you for the funny stories and all the wonderful food you  cooked.

Thank you  for always thinking of everyone else long before you  ever thought of yourself. Thank you  for making our lives far more special than they could have ever been without you. 

Please go home to  your beloved husband, son, family  and friends .

I never thought I'd see the day a beautiful woman like you would ever be taken from our family. You've been suffering for so long and I wish I had one more chance to say goodbye. All our smiles in this picture are because of you nonna. I remember this day like it was yesterday. No words can discribe how much I miss you. Everytime I walked into your house, the first question I would get is " do you want nonna to make you some tortellini"? Even though I'd say "no its okay", you would make it for me anyways because you knew how much I loved it. Nonna, we will all miss you and I know you are in a better place now with nonno and zio Paolo.

Dilara was a good and happy person. Everytime we got together she always had something good for us to taste. She suffered so much but in our heart we never want them to go. I know loosing a mother is so very hard, but we have to take it one day at a time. I hope she happy were she is and no more suffering. So sorry to all the family my deepest sympathie. May her memories get you through the hard times.

~ Mom's Eulogy ~
We are the daughters of Dilara and we have been offered the opportunity to speak for a few moments about our mother, whose life we are here today to celebrate together. We realized as we set about this task, that daughters see their mothers in a different context than those of you who are lifelong friends or professional colleagues. Mom set out to fulfill her lifelong dream of catering, which brought families together in joyous moments and gathering lifelong friendships along the way that will last a lifetime. It is even difficult to speak on behalf of my family but we will try to represent the shared feelings of love, devotion and admiration we all felt towards our mother.
Our mother was a lovely woman. She embodied all of the attributes of a perfect mom. She was caring, thoughtful, hardworking, compassionate, loving and so much more. Whenever there was a need, mom was there for her family and friends any time of the day. It was so difficult to think of all the words that described our mother as a person and how much she meant to us. Our mother was our idol and we looked up to her all or our lives. She made a very loving home for us. No fight between siblings would ever end without hugs and kisses, although hugs never needed a reason in her house. Singing and dancing were encouraged execpt at the dinner table. Mom lived for her children, her grandchildren and even more her great grandchildren who brought so much joy and filled her heart with love.
She knew her share of tragedy, losing her son, her husband and very good friends of hers. But her love for her family and her faith in God somehow gave her the strength not only to go on but to love life without bitterness and instill in all of us a gratitude for every day we have together. We know it may sound greedy to want more days with a person who lived so long, but the fact that our mother was 79, does not deminish, it only magnifies the enormity of the room whose doors have shut. Even though you are gone, you will live in our hearts always, you will be missed and love forever.
Mom would like to share with everyone, her last words:

Hi Bella nonna,
These past few days have been very difficult for the whole family; all your friends & Clients. 

I know selfishly, that we all still need & want you here; but deep inside we take comfort in knowing that you're in a better place, safe & happy reunited with nonno Piero, zio Paolo, nonno Salvatore & all the ones you've been wanting to meet again.

I've had the blessing of knowing & having you close to me for 35years; with countless memories of family parties, Christmases, and summer weekends spent at the cottage; all fill my heart with happiness even during this sad time. 

Over the past few days, i've thought a lot about you nonna, and the impact you've had on my life, as well as, the lives of all the wonderful people you've encoutered along the way; makes me all the more proud to know "you're my nonna". 
You have taught me some life lessons that I hope to carry with me throughout the rest of my life in your honor; *Always help those less fortunate, *Find happiness in the small moments, * Always smile & laugh (even when it hurts), *Trust in God, *Always do your best, and * Family first (Sempre metti la famiglia prima. 

I hope that in these 35years, i've made you proud and i will continue to "do my Best"

We will "ALL" miss you nonna and love you forever. Our Guardian Angel "Coo-Coo Nonna" is watching over all of us.

There is an emptiness within me that longs to hear your voice and feel your affection. No words can describe how heartbroken and saddend I am to have lost you so soon. As I try to cope with the realization that I will no longer see you, talk to you or feel you, it brings be comfort to know that you have been reunited with dad and Paolo, free from the many years of  pain and suffering...you are now smiling again. Mom, I have always looked up to you for your compassion, love, strength and advise. You instilled all your amazing qualities in the person I am today!
