Domenico was larger than life with a spirit for humanity to match, full of character and stories, a voracious reader, and a taste for the finer things in life. Devoted husband for almost 51 years to Connie (nee Mossa), loving father to Lucianna (Giulio), William (Carolyn) and Audrey (Ian), and a blissfully happy and fun Nonno to grandchildren Ilaria, Sofia, Alessia, Zachary, Luca and Matteo, he enjoyed weekends with his family in front of a crackling fire up at his 100-acre farm. He could always be found with a twinkle in his eye, and a pot cooking on his stove. His Sunday lunch parties with Connie at their home were legendary, and often finished into the evening. Domenico chose Canada as his new home, leaving behind Lanciano, Chieti Italy in the 1960s. Like many new Canadians, he worked hard, and soon rose up in the competitive world of the restaurant industry, owning at one time Gourmet Pique-Nique, Bumpkins, Old Angelo's and for the last 20 years, the award-winning ORO on Elm St. Food and wine were his passion, but only second to his family and friends. We lost him suddenly on Oct. 16, 2016, due to a fatal heart attack. He will be sorely missed. The world is less bright because of his passing.
In addition to flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation,Canadian Diabetes Association, or Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation
in Domenico's name would be appreciated by the family.
