Donald Herbert Laflamme

After a short illness our father, Donald Herbert Laflamme, passed away on June 13, 2023. Donald was in his 97th year and residing with his his fellow WW2 Veterans at the Sunnybrook Hospital Veterans Centre in Toronto.

Donald was a devoted husband to Barbara (McCabe), a loving father of five (Brien, Susan, Nancy (Mike), Robert (Victoria), and Kim (Trevor), an adoring grandfather of eleven (Alaina, Justin, Stephen, Kevin, Ryan, Amanda, Olivia, Holly, Connor, Owen and Charlotte) and a doting great grandfather of five (Donovan, Terrence, Rory, Claire and Hannah). Donald had four loving brothers and a sister, many nephews and nieces, and fond memories of family gatherings long past

Donald was born in Ottawa in 1926 and spent many happy summers on his grandparents farm in Papineauville, QC. He worked hard in life including serving his country in WW2 guarding POWs in northern Ontario. Donald met and married Barbara during the romantic post war days in Toronto, and continued working hard as a plant manager to support and raise a large family. 7 Hogan Drive was his home for over 60 years and played a central role in many family events. Many stories will be told about Hogan Drive with smiles and laughter and even some tears. Dad will be missed greatly. Until we meet again.

Donald will be interred with Barbara at Mt. Hope Cemetery. No service by request. Donations in lieu of flowers to Sunnybrook’s Veterans Centre. We invite all of you to keep the memory of our Dad alive in your hearts
