To the Ingram family,
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom my deepest sympathy to you all. I lost my mom 35 yrs ago and I still miss her daily so I understand your sorrow.
I will never forget the first time I went to your place for lunch and your mom gave us a needle with snails (Winkles I believe she called them) I thought it was a joke to this day though I still enjoy them. 
I have tried to find you over the years to share some of our childhood memories. Please feel free to reach out to me I live in Oshawa now.

I am Dorothy's daughter Monika. I would like to express my deepest thanks to all of those who took the time to visit with my Mom during her last days and who attended her service. She was truly a unique individual who loved her family and friends dearly and was a "bright light in all of our lives". She always had a positive spirit and was not one to complain. She grew up in London during the Second World War and truly knew what tough times were. My Mom loved Canada, knew the strong love of a good and caring man, friends, and that of her three children and two grandchildren who fondly refered to her as "Nana" - by her special request. She was very proud of her family. To enjoy a special seafood dinner broght her great joy and her visits to Vancouver allowed her to indulge in this passion. She felt strong empathy for those who were more sensitive or disadvantaged in life and I have no doubt wherever she is she will continue to watchover and nurture those souls. I am so incredibly proud to call her my Mom...until we meet again.

My family and I were much a part of Dorothy's family in the late 50s and early 60s. Her children Teddy, Monika and Janina matched my family's ages closely. We are Dean, Janice and Stewart respectively.
Dorothy was a kind, caring person. A tiny person, her English-accented voice was never still and could be heard throughout the room.
Her and her husband Ted loved to watch Hockey Night in Canada along with one or three beers. We all camped together and I recall these joint adventures as some of the best times of my pre-teen life.
My dad Mac offered yesterday that Dorothy was reluctant to leave the tent. She was fair skinned and prone to sunburns. In the evening it was the same as she hated mosquitoes. Dorothy was always exceptionally pretty and managed to hang on to this trait for a lifetime.I still remember her enjoying periwinkles, an English tradition, she would pull them out of the shell with a pin and eat them, much to my disgust! I worked with Ted, her husband. We had two tea breaks daily that Dorothy would provide. It was good to get out of the cellar were the shop was. I'll never forget her!
