Dorothy Eileen Parsons

Dorothy passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John (Jack), sisters Joan Hamilton, Marjorie Ross, and Audrey Schroll. She is survived by her five children, thirteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren: daughter Karin Cameron (Bruce), grandchildren Krista and Daniel (Emina), and great grandchildren Weston and Liv; daughter Janis Lockett (David) and grandchildren Paige (Jarred) and Connor; daughter Carla Miller (Peter), grandchildren Peterjohn (Katy), Lucas (Jolaine), Erin (Mark), and Leah (Dallas), and great grandchildren Jacob, Caleb, Dylan, Joshua, and Maisy; daughter Daria Catenacci (George), grandchildren Adrian (Hannah), Matthew, and Rachel (Ronan), and great grandchildren Tristan and Harvest; son Adam Parsons (Sabrina) and grandchildren Sierra and Bianca. She is survived by her dear sisters Anne Rowsell and Helen Cook, and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy enjoyed a long and fulfilling life; teaching senior citizens, and in retirement traveling with her husband Jack. She always spoke of their many trips to Europe, Hawaii, and California - often accompanied by their children and grandchildren. Jack and Dot spent their winters in Florida where they cultivated many life long friendships. Dorothy continued to spend time in Florida for thirteen years after her husbands passing, where she consistently volunteered at the local church store. She was an amazing baker, and her treats will be missed by her family and friends. Dorothy was a presence; her wonderful sense of humour, and abundant kindness are what she will be remembered for.

The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, particularly the Emergency Department, who provided Dorothy with excellent care over the past two years.

The family would also like to acknowledge Dorothy’s beloved friends: Jimmy, Zelda, Janice and Bob, and her best friend of over 60 years Kay; and thank them for their love and support over the years.
