January 7, 1944 – June 24, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edmee Victoria Clarke.
Born on January 7, 1944, in Manchester, Jamaica, Edmee was the beloved daughter of the late Margaret Angelina Robinson Elliston and Clifford Coley, both born in Jamaica. She was the devoted sister of Inez Elliston, Kathleen Leonie Coley, and Mercilyn Facey. Sadly, all three sisters have passed on to be with the Lord.
Edmee is survived by her loving daughters, Heidi and Georgina Clarke; her grandson, Daniel Roberts; her brothers, Clinton and Linval; as well as many cousins, nieces, and other relatives.
A proud and accomplished Registered Nurse, Edmee began her medical training at the Hereford Nurses Training College in the UK in 1967, specializing in Ear, Nose, and Throat care. From 1967 to 1974, she served as the Unit Head Nurse at Red Hills General Hospital in the UK, leading care in Pediatric, Medical, Surgical, and Gynaecological units.
In 1974, she transitioned into Midwifery at Hammersmith Maternity Hospital in the UK, and in 1975, continued her nursing and midwifery work at St. George's Hospital in London, specializing in surgical, medical, and pediatric care.
Edmee immigrated to Canada on July 25, 1975, and from 1981 to 1989, she worked at Dryden District Hospital in Dryden Ontario, where she focused on Surgical, Medical, and Geriatric care. A lifelong learner, she pursued advanced studies in Nursing, earning several certificates in the UK, and completed her RN recertification at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay.
She completed her RN career from 1989 to 1995 at Centenary General Hospital in Scarborough, Ontario.
Edmee embraced life with energy and elegance. She was flamboyant, fashionable, and a voracious reader with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Her style and vibrant presence were unmistakable. Shopping with her daughters was one of her favorite joys, along with her deep love for healthy living, theatre, family gatherings, and her faith community at Apple Creek Church. She was actively involved in community outreach and always found joy in giving to others.
Edmee’s absence leaves an aching void in our hearts, but her radiant spirit and legacy of compassion live on in the cherished memories we hold.
She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
The family sincerely appreciates your prayers and kind gestures during this difficult time.
A funeral service for Edmee will be held Monday, July 14, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Jerrett Funeral Homes, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON M1K2B5.
