Elizabeth immigrated to Canada from Germany in the 50s with late husband Jan Anthony. They were married for 47 years before Jan's passing.
Elizabeth's most selfless act was adopting two children, but she never announced it. To her, we were her children and she was our Mom. She gave 2 unrelated babies at birth, the gift of family and lifelong siblings to each other.
Elizabeth loved music, she played harmonica, she liked cooking, gardening, knitting, her regularly hand-ground coffee and she especially loved dogs and adopted several rescues in her lifetime. She was the biggest Leafs fan, especially during their cup-winning years in the 60's and was even escorted to Maple Leaf Gardens on a rare winning night in the 90's. Elizabeth worked hard to ensure that family and friends were always welcomed and well fed.
In her later years, Elizabeth developed dementia but still loved to laugh, to joke and was feisty - she'd make it known when she didn't like something. Elizabeth loved the staff and residents at Main St. Terrace - they became her friends. She'd often say, "Don't do what I wouldn't do" and she called everyone, "Bubalee", a term of endearment.
She will be missed by son Jan Peter Wisniowski, daughter in law Teresa Wisniowski, daughter Ursula Howard Sellitto (Shotsy), son in law Osvaldo Sellitto, granddaughter Krista Howard and niece Angelie Horseling. Also missed by Sammy, Molly and Leroy.
The family is hopeful a Memorial can be held for Elizabeth around Easter, which was always her favourite time of year.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to animal shelters... it's something she would have encouraged.
"She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her!" Proverbs 31:26-28
