Dear Debbie, Donnie & family,

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Aunt Elsie.  She was always such a kind and loving person. I remember so many visits with your  Mom & Dad.  They were a perfect pair. Now, they, Mom & Dad are all together again having a “yarn.”

It was very difficult and heartbreaking to watch the dementia ravage my mothers mind and then her body and not be able to do anything about it.  I am grateful that we had 88 years with her and that she will not suffer any longer. Our mother is at peace with my father and her mother and siblings as well as the friends that have passed away before her. Rest in peace Mommy you will always be loved in our hearts and never be forgotten. xoxo

Thats one of the best things about Facebook; I can be in touch with them more frequently and they are so supportive!  My mother was also fantastic with children.  Both my parents were.  They had my son John stay with them every 2nd weekend from the time he was a little one until they retired and moved to Nova
Scotia in 1990. It was wonderful for them to spend time with her mother and siblings.  But once her mother and a lot of her siblings passed away, my mom wanted to move back to Ontario to spend time with us, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. After my parents moved back to Ontario in 2013, she always lit up when she saw her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  My mom also babysat for a few years; those kids loved her so much.   The younger one whose name was Jonathan would hide under the kitchen table when his mother or father would come to pick him up and he would literally have to be dragged out of my parents house.  He called my dad Witney but would only call my mom Mrs. Trimm which she got a kick out off,she had a great sense of humor.  I loved her so much and she was always my staunchest supporter.  When I was 13 years old and started smoking, I remember that I was walking home one day along Lee Avenue smoking a cigarette when my dad passed me in his car on his way home from work and saw me.  I didn't see him at the time but when I got home he confronted me about it.  I swore up, down and sideways that it wasn't me and then finally my mom said " well Witney, they do say that everyone has a double!" which of course I latched onto and said yes, that must be the explanation.   And then a few years later, when I moved in with my first husband before we got married, which was considered living in sin in the mid 70's, my dad wouldn't speak to me for weeks.  On the other hand, my mom brought me a housewarming gift and told me don't worry Debbie your dad will come around and of course he did.  I have to admit that the past few years have not been easy.  

First I would like to say thank you so much to everyone for being here today to pay respect to my mother.  I truly believe that  she is now an angel in heaven just as much as she was an angel on earth.  It gives me comfort to know that she is now back in the arms of my father who was her husband, soul mate and best friend for almost 64 years. My mom was all about family; I am so blessed to have  memories of a childhood that was always filled with love, laughter, support,friends & family.   Mom was happiest when she was taking care of my dad, myself and my brother Don. She did work at a couple of part time jobs when I was young but I remember that she was always there when we needed her. Both my parents were very social people and they loved to visit friends and relatives or have friends and relatives visit us at our home.  Our friends were always welcome in our home; my mom and dad treated them as well as their own children.  My parents encouraged sleepovers and on weekends we would frequently either have sleepovers at friends homes or at our own. My mom was all about family - there were lots of  family outings  on weekends to visit our relatives that lived in Toronto and pretty well every summer we all piled into the car and drove to Nova Scotia to visit my mom's side of the family (my brother and I fighting a lot of the way)! My mom had a big family as many east coasterners did so there were lots of relatives to visit and  so many things to do. Whether it was spending time with my Nanny,  Aunt's, Uncles and cousins; it was always a busy, joyful vacation when we went down East. We went camping, sang around campfires, went clam digging and picking blueberries along the railway tracks.  All I remember is good times and lots of love.  My mothers brother, my Uncle Arnie is 81 years old and lives in Nova Scotia as do a lot of her family.  They can't be here physically but I know that their spirits and hearts are with us today. So sorry to hear of Aunt Elsie's passing. Sincere condolence to her  family. I was fortunate to be able to spend some time visiting Elsie and Whitney on my summer vacations to Parrsboro when they lived in Truro.  I enjoyed their company and always had a laugh or two. Rest in peace Elsie.

Donald, Debbie and families....Well, the end of an era.  So many memories of backyard and park barbecues.  The pictures on this site made me break out in huge smiles.  She's with Witney now.  Hope you are all well, we all share your grief              

Debbie, Donald and family, our deepest sympathy in the loss of your beautiful mom, She is surely flying with the Angels now, I always loved to visit Aunt Elsie and Uncle Whit when they lived on Juniper Ave, always lots of fun and laughter, and of course I cannot forget all the hot summer days she made pancakes for Glenn. Those were very happy days I will not forget. RIP Aunt Elsie.You are with Uncle Whit.  Gloria and Reg Serre

So very sad to say goodbye to Aunt Elsie. I have so many fond memories of our family visits while I lived  in Ontario and how very glad I was to have you and Whitney close by. I know right now that there is a family reunion happening in heaven with the love of your life Whitney, Nanny Warren and all your sisters and brothers and my mom (Kay) is sitting back as she always did watching and taking in all the activities so she could share them the next day to those who couldn’t quite remember exactly what happened, lol
