We were so saddened to hear of Eric's passing... we have lost a dear uncle.
 I remember Eric as being most happy when spending time with aunt Rose, visiting with family and friends, gardening and fishing.
  Eric had a great sense sense of humour and appreciation of good company and good food.
  He travelled often and always had many many interesting stories to tell.
  Eric will be greatly missed by all.
  Rest in peace with Rose my dear uncle.

Uncle Eric,

I will certainly miss you!  We will always remember the fun we had when visiting yourself and Rose in Toronto and spending time with you when you visited with us in St. John’s or at Nanny and Poppy Maloney's home in Sweet Bay. Bonavista Bay.  When we stayed with you, we felt at home and you treated myself, Melissa and Brenda, like your own children.  

I will always think of you fondly when I hear the song, Don’t worry be happy!  You were always singing and happy when we were with you. Benny will miss the little nips, that you both enjoyed together.  You always toasted to good health,  Unfortunately we can’t be healthy and without pain forever.  Sadly, Your time has come.  We will get together soon and drink a toast to you and reminisce the old times, like when you’d come back with lots of trout after a full days fishing in around the ponds in Sweet Bay.  One of your favourite things in the world, to do. 

You are finally with your beautiful Rosie.  Please give her and our Mom Geraldine, a big hug and kiss for us.  We’ll love and miss you forever Eric.

Uncle Eric, Melissa said it all.  You were such an amusing, well thought and interesting man.  We are so blessed and thankful to have had you as part of our family. Uncle Eric was quite a character! He was so very smart and keen- his brain never ever failed him. He was quick witted and I really enjoyed chatting with him- he could chat forever.
I have memories of him from when I was a small child in Sweet Bay, but my adult memories spending time with Uncle Eric are my fondest. Though we lived far away, I enjoyed my visits to him in Toronto and we were happy for him to visit us in Newfoundland in 2014. It was great to be able to bring him around and learn more about his interesting life.

I will never forget when I went to visit him after Rose had passed and we spent the weekend doing his normal routine. We rode the busses- everyone knew him and the drivers made special stops for him so that he could get close to the cemetery to visit Rose. He was quick on pointing out anything that was out of place or anyone who wasn’t abiding by the rules- he was pretty set in his ways and could be a little blunt - but he did show great kindness to me and I will really miss that.

I once called him on a drive home from the Bonavista peninsula, and he stayed one the phone with me for my entire trip until I got into my driveway and we never ran out of things to talk about.
I always remembered the ceramic all decorations that I Knew came from Eric, however I only recently found out that he made them all by hand- he was very skilled.
He took such good care of his Rose, especially when she got sicker. Though I will certainly miss our chats and his very calm way of explaining things about life, I am happy to know that they are once again together and Eric is free of the physical limitations that had plagued him for quite some time.

Words could never express the gratitude we have for both you & Rose for stepping up to the plate & giving Mom & her six children an incredible hand up!
You  taught us how to garden, how to build a fence & how to make a “jigs” dinner using a cottage roll.
You were so resourceful & such a great historian.
We will miss our park chats, Mel Lastman Square chats & our phone chats.
You pushed your body as far as it could go, your struggles are now over.

Uncle Eric,

You have left us and we are comforted in knowing you are reunited with your loved ones that have before you. Especially your darling wife, Rose. 

We were blessed in having you in our lives and grateful for all you did after our dad passed away.
