Erla Lorraine Jackman

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Erla Lorraine Jackman, born on December 29, 1949, in Josey Hill, St. Lucy, Barbados. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Gladys Jackman and was pre-deceased by her sister Gloria Jackman (2016). Erla is survived by her siblings Ursula Austin and George Jackman.

Cherished Mother, Erla will be deeply missed by her three children: Sophia Scantlebury, Terry Jackman, and Danielle Jackman-Samuel, along with her Grandchildren whom she adored; Shane Jackman, Janessa Wilson, Shantae Johnson, Joshua Scantlebury, and Nevaeh Jackman-Berry. She also leaves behind her beloved Great-grandchildren: Shai Jackman, Zion Jackman, Sierra Jackman, Colin Wilson, and Baby Wilson, as well as her husband Junior Leighton.

Erla will also be deeply missed by her extended family which includes her nephew Steve Jackman, nieces Myrtle Jackman and Muriel Goodridge, and great-nephews and nieces: Patrick Jackman, Derek Austin, Suzuette Hinkson, Akeem Jackman, Stefon Jackman, Tristan Jackman, and Noah Jackman. She is also survived by her son-in-law Rev. Joel Scantlebury.

Her cousins Carl Beckles, Nancy Boyce, Ryan Clarke, and Sydnee Walcott were close to her, as well as in-laws Stephanie Jackman, Nicholas Wilson, and Grace Cox.

She leaves behind lifelong friends, including Edla Hackett, Ronald Archer, Ivis McCalla, Patricia Layne, and her adopted daughters Heather Phillips and Donna Watson.

She's relative to the Jackman, Skeete, Clarke, Beckles, Hinds, Watts and Welch Families of St. Lucy and St. Peter Barbados.

Erla is also being fondly remembered by her former Co-Workers from North York General Hospital who held a very special place in her heart. She treasured the lasting friendships and connections that survived long after her retirement.

Our Family expresses our sincere gratitude for the overwhelming support during this difficult time.

A visitation for Erla will be held Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jerrett Funeral Homes, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON M1K2B5. A funeral service will occur Friday, April 4, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON M1K2B5. A burial will occur Friday, April 4, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Rd, Toronto, ON M1K 1R1.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Erla's memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society .
