

After an active and spirited life, Evelyn passed away in her long-term care residence in Toronto, January 26, 2013, aged 97 (born May 20, 1915, Markham). She is predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Andrew William McDermott. An inspiration to her three sons, Dennis (and his wife Nadene) of Harrowsmith, and Paul and Ross of Toronto, Evelyn will be sorely missed by her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Matt Rose) and David, Keith (Kristin Pass) and Todd, and great grandchildren Andrew Rose and Liam McDermott. The daughter of Frank Miller and Annie McCallum, she is predeceased by brothers and sisters Arden, Vera, Hazel, Norman, Olive, Emily, and Ken. A graduate of Scarborough Collegiate, Evelyn led an energetic and creative life into her 90s leaving family and friends a legacy of handcrafted treasures. She was an active member of Wanstead United Church, the Camera Club and Horticultural Society of Scarborough, Edwards Gardens, and a gifted interpreter at Lang Century Village, Keene. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Mennonite Central Committee (1-800-313-6226). Cremation was arranged through, Jerrett Funeral Homes, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON M1K 2B5. Family and friends are invited to a gathering in Evelyn’s honour at St. Clair-O’Connor Community, 2701 St Clair Ave E., Toronto at 3:00 pm, Saturday, February 2, 2013.
