

.On Saturday, January 25, 2014, Dr. Franklin Christopher Wilson went home to be with his Heavenly Father. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Chris passed peacefully at home with his longtime friend Brian Rustige at his side. Franklin, a devout Catholic his whole life, whose catholic name was Christopher, was fondly called "Chris" by his friends. Chris was born in Florence, South Carolina on November 24, 1944 and immigrated with his mother to Toronto in 1967 in search of a happy and prosperous future. Chris received his Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Toronto. He was the recipient of a U of T Graduate Fellowship, Canada Council Fellowship and a National Health and Welfare Postdoctoral Fellow. Chris was a successful Clinical and Management Consultant in Toronto, his work encompassed a diverse range of private and public sector organizations and over the years proudly served with the Metropolitan Toronto Children’s Aid Society and on the Mayor’s Community and Race Relations Committee. Chris was a tireless advocate for women’s issues and anti-racism and discrimination policy. He is predeceased by his beloved mother Parthenia Maria (nee Hines) Wilson and father Frank Wilson Jr. He is survived by his loving cousins Debra and Adrienne Walker, Rosette and James Kelly, Helen and Lionel Hines as well as many more unnamed. Chris will be sadly missed by all those who knew this special soul. Relatives and friends will be received on Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 2-6 p.m. at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home & Chapel, 467 Sherbourne St., Toronto (South of Wellesley St.). Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Cathedral, 65 Bond St., Toronto. Interment at Mount Hope Catholic Cemetery to be attended by family and close friends. Reception to follow at Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
