I signed on the Queensway Website to find Gene's picture. I am so very sad for Jo-Jo and Alexis and all Gene's family. What a great Man. He coached my son in Hockey. Over all the years when we met since it was always wonderful to see him and I came away from each encounter happy to know the man. A very nice man and wonderful to all the children he coached. My deepest condolences to the entire family.

My deepest condolences to the MacDonald family. I fondly remember the fun times we had with Gene around. He was such an entertainer, but he also contributed more than just humour to the people he was associated with. He will be missed.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  Gene will be truly missed.  I have so many childhood memories of the old days on Winnifred Avenue and the great friendships of the MacDonald - Bates families.

Our world is a different place without you.  Your personality, sense of humour, and "off color jokes"  lifted the spirit of many people whose lives you touched. Your courageous battle with cancer was an inspiration to many, your bravery an example to us all.  My deepest condolences and prayers go out to your children.  God Bless Gene......

My heartfelt condolences go out to the MacDonald family at this sad, sad time.  Gene will be sadly missed by anyone who has had the honour and priviledge of knowing him.  He had an amazing sense of humour, made me laugh whenever i saw him.  not to mention he had a tremendous outlook on life.  Rest in Peace Gene.

Sadly missed along life's way. Quietly remembered every day. No longer in our life to share. But in our hearts he's always there.

Sending our deepest, heartfelt condolences to Gene's family.  Gene was a wonderful addition to the volunteers of the Queensway Canadiens Hockey League and brought many a smile to the players and families at Mimico arena, even on those cold Sunday mornings at 7 am! His endless passion and enthusiasm, as coach, sponsor and fundraiser just "Doing it for the Kids" will never be forgotten.

The Queensway Canadiens hockey league will be making a donation to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program in Gene's memory.

My condolences to the MacDonald
family. I remember Gene coming into the Beck office to pick up his daughter Alexis and while waiting for her to finish her shift, he was telling many jokes and kept us laughing. Never a day went by that when Gene walked into the office, that he didn't have something humorous to say. His sense of humor and smile will be missed by many.Heaven just got another angel.

To Gene's family, my condolences.  At a time like this, words are so hard to express.  What will I remember most about Gene?  His sense of humour, and his big heart.  I worked with Gene at East End Taxi, and saw him over the years after that.  Sadly, I didn't get to see him again after last seeing him in January.  R.I.P. Gene.

Our thoughts and prayers are for Jean, Jim and Gerri and the rest of the family during this time. I am sure that that the memorial service this Saturday will  honour Gene's life, and will recognize his journey to personal faith in the Lord.

My condolences to Gene's family and friends.  Gene was one of a a kind and will be missed by everyone.  I personally will always remember him coaching our boys at queensway hockey.  He brought so much fun to our weekends at the rink.  What a blessing to have had him in our lives.
