OBITUARY
George John Aprile
August 24, 1942 – January 1, 2021
It was not the start to the New Year that his large extended family was hoping for. George Aprile died January 1st 2021 with his beloved and long-time partner Rosalind by his side at Scarborough General Hospital . It was a blessing that the hospital allowed a loved one with him in this time of Covid. Like so many people during the pandemic, many family members couldn't visit him for months during his illness with cancer. George touched many lives during his well-lived life of 78 years especially his three grandchildren Andrew Matthew and Michael, step son Dwayne and step daughter Deborah and her two children Matthew and Morgan. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers. Bill (Betty) Frank (Heidi) Carole, Donna (Nik) Nina(David) Michael (Colleen) Joan, Tricia (John). It was a year ago that his older sister Gail passed away from cancer. The disease also claimed his mother Pauline, father Michael and sister Barbara. George was a master electrician who also mastered any job he put his hands on. And he passed on his skills to those willing to listen learn and work hard. He was a born raconteur who loved to spin tales of travel and family misadventures with great hilarity. He held court every Wednesday at his home office with his work crew buddies. George was a very popular guy with a big heart who was always the first to extend a helping hand to his neighbours, friends and family. Like George Bailey in It's A Wonderful Life, a man who has friends is a rich man indeed. That was Our George. Donations in memory of George may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

George you will be greatly missed by Pat, Bryan and I because you were truly a friend and great neighbour. George there was never a time that you did not come over and fix the pool to make life easier to operate. The memories of our Progressive Dinners will always be one of many fond memories we shared with you. You are no longer in pain and you are with your buddies, so have a toast with Crown Royal. My sincere condolences to Rosalind and the family.

Our sincere condolences to our niece Deborah, the entire Aprile family and all the lives that George has touched throughout the years. We remember George at the farm in Cannington back in the 70's when he was married to our sister Jackie who is now deceased. Those were the wilder days when pig roasts, the swimming hole and Sangria seemed endless! Many of George's friend and relatives will also remember those days. George was always the life of the party with his humour, stories and infectious laugh! Must add too that he was a charmer with a huge heart! George loved our niece Deborah with that huge heart right up to his final hours. The love Deborah has for him will never die, forever living in her memories. Even though it has been a long time since George has been in our lives we will also and always have wonderful memories of him to hold in our hearts.

I am very sorry to hear about George. I have only good memories of him. I remember him coming over to our homes on both Memory Lane and Silverthorne. I remember the Bloomington Christmas' and how fun it was to be around the big family. I remember telling him as I child that he bought the best presents. I also remember going up to the farm many times and having fun exploring and being around the animals. I remember the pig roast we had way back in the 70's. I also remember being bit by his dog up at the farm once; right in the stomach. He had killed a piglet and did not like that I was watching him so he bit me... a German Sheppard. I still love dogs though.
My condolences to Roz and the whole family, including all of the people whose life George touched.

I never met someone as generous or genuine as George. In my life, there have been very few people that have left such an endearing and everlasting impression. He was such a good man and equally good friend to all.
I will miss him.
My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to Rosalind

On Remembering George
My parents could not say enough about George and how much he meant to them and how well George looked after them.
George gave so much of himself to helping others whether it being family, friend, neighbour or even his long standing business customers who needed his help long after he retired.
His positive attitude was on display at all times, even on the golf course whether he was shooting his 5th or 9th he thought there was a chance of it going in the hole.
When calling George on the phone you could tell he answered with a smile.
On food and drink it didn't matter whether he was anticipating drinking, eating or preparing it for you, he was always smiling.
If you had a question for George you needed to ask early as he had a wealth of knowledge to share which could last late into the evening.
I had a lot of fun with George in the past from pulling wire at APKO, cutting grass, shovelling snow, sitting in the hot tub, or on the golf course. George made everything pleasurable.
All great memories.
Our sincere condolences to my sister Rosalind and The Aprile Family.

George and my dad Les Doi were like 2 peas in a pod. If one was outside doing something, you can be sure the other was not far behind. I have many fond memories of George and his smiling face, and infectious laughter, often by his hot tub with my 2 sons splashing around on a warm summer's day. George was a fine mentor, he had a gift for teaching without making you feel inadequate. He is greatly missed.

I will never forget you, Georgie. I was blessed with so many great cousins and it saddens me when one of them leaves us. I have wonderful memories of growing up and Sundays at the farm. I will miss your big heart and your big laugh.

George was my grandmother's next door neighbour. He was the absolute sweetest gentleman. Whether is was hosting fireworks on a Victoria Day weekend when I was younger, or offering to get me to school when we were stranded because of a snowstorm. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, to anyone. I could almost always guarantee when we were at my Grandmothers that if my Dad had stepped outside and wasn't back in about 10 mins. he was at George's sharing a laugh and enjoying a drink. George will be missed, he was a constant in my life.

In 2003, during their trip to NL, George was "screeched-in" as an Honorary Newfoundlander. Wearing a "sou'wester" for the occasion, George was a great sport, and a little nip of Newfie Screech sealed the deal.
Our deepest sympathies to Rosalind and family, and to the Aprile family. We loved him dearly, and he will surely be missed.

My fondest memories growing up included coming back to Ontario from BC to visit family. Mom and I would often be picked up by George and stay with him and Rosalind. Usually mom’s (his sister Barbara) home base while there. I always remembered Uncle George as having the biggest heart, warmest smile and best laugh! Laugh to be heard for miles when mom slipped into George’s hot tub while wearing her silk dress. This was between a family wedding ceremony and reception!
I am so grateful I had these times with George and Rosalind and so grateful to have seen him every summer since mom passed 12 years ago. I always admired George’s hard work, business smarts and lust for life. Much love from your niece Gail and nephew Michael.

George was one of kind!
I have such fond memories of the Aprile boys coming up to play golf with Perry well we were vacationing at the cottage. I loved sitting down to dinner with them to hear of all the days golf stories and heckling but I, think of all the stories my favourite is when Perry tells me of George’s 70th B’day. He sure knew how to have a good time. He will be missed but never forgotten❤️ Paula Ryan
