Born in Toronto, Ontario, on February 21, 1978, Joe was the beloved son of Ralph and Nancy Virdo, and a cherished brother to Caterina (Robert), Onofrio (Amandine), and the late Lucia (Gaetano). A proud and playful uncle, Joe adored his nieces and nephews: Luca, Maddy, Sam, Lauren, and Gabe. He also leaves behind his dear Nonna Maria, who held a special place in his heart.
Joe lived his life with boldness, heart, and humour. He had a deep passion for music, often found strumming his guitar and singing his favourite tunes — always ready to raise a glass of wine and a smile with those around him. A proud athlete and lifelong hockey lover, Joe brought that same energy to everything he did.
Known for his courage, sense of humour, and big heart, Joe was someone who made you feel seen, heard, and appreciated. Whether it was his unmistakable laugh or the gleam in his eye when talking about his beloved red Mustang, Joe had a way of lighting up every room he entered.
He will be deeply missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and countless friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.
Joe’s legacy of kindness, strength, and joy will live on in the stories we share, the music we play, and the love we carry forward in his name.
If desired, donations in Joe’s memory can be made to CAMH, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre -Odette Cancer Centre or simply raise a glass and remember him with a song in your heart.
Rest easy, Joe. You were one of a kind — and you will never be forgotten.
