She was born on August 20, 1941, in Montego Bay, Jamaica, to Harold Duhaney and Hortence Lawrence. She is now happily reunited with her late husband, George Plummer. She is survived by her dear son, Errol Plummer, his beloved wife, Dr. Helen Ofosu, and her grandchildren.
Gwen’s early life in Jamaica was marked by her strong sense of community, compassion, and dedication to others. She later moved on to an accomplished career as a Nurse and Executive Housekeeper, in which she displayed exceptional skill, leadership, and care for those around her. Gwen’s warm and nurturing nature made a lasting impression on everyone she met, and she was known for her professionalism, commitment, and integrity throughout her career.
She was a loving daughter, sister, auntie, mom, church sister, grandmother, and friend whose life touched many people. Gwen was a woman of deep faith and a unique sense of humour. Her kind spirit and generous heart will never be forgotten. Her legacy of service, love, and commitment to others will continue to inspire all who knew her.
In her memory, the family asks that you donate to a Black-focused charity of your choice instead of flowers, in keeping with Gwen's lifelong spirit of giving and caring for others.
Gwen is survived by her family and friends, who will forever cherish her memory and celebrate the extraordinary life she lived. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Celebrations of her life in Toronto and Ottawa will be announced shortly.
