Hartley passed away suddenly at the age of 21 years old. Son of Juanita-Ann Smith and Joseph DeMarchi. Brother of Evanne Lindsay Smith. I have known Joey since the 7th Grade and he was the nicest person I had ever met, he always had something funny to say no matter the situation, it was a huge shock to me when I learned of his passing. I pray he is in a better place and finds all the happiness and joy he seeks.
Rest in Peace old friend

We first met as neighbors and then went to elementary and highschool together. I remember the summers when we would play base ball at Bruce and getting schooled by you in poker. You always gave me such good advice and were always so easy to talk to. I remember walking to classes with you and doing school projects, seems like a simple memory but it's something ill always cherish. I know you're an angel now, and will always be one of the nicest, kindest and sweetest guy I've ever known. Rest I peace Joey.

I first met Joey at Bruce Public School when we were 8 years old. He was an incredible person and one of my best friends. We stopped keeping in touch in high school but I will never forget his kindheartedness, respect for others, cleverness, love for sports and his great sense of humour. Joey has a very special place in my heart. We used to be very close when we were young and told each other everything.. Talking easily over a few hours everyday. He was a joyful and happy person that always made me smile. I will always remember him and the positive influence he has made on me and others around him. I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones. An angel is watching over us. Rest in peace Joey. You will always be loved and missed.

This came as a huge shock to me. I don't talk to Joey too much, but I do remember him as a very nice person. I remember back in high school we had a field trip. Joey, myself, and a few other friends went out to eat lunch together. Just thinking back it only feels like last week that we went out to eat. Even though I didn't talk to you much, you did have an impact on my life. Rest in peace

I met Joey back in Grade 7 and still to this day remember him for his lightheartedness and humour. He was a smart, athletic, all-around guy who never failed to make you laugh. We were never super close; however, he still managed to touch my life in many ways. He will be missed dearly. I send my love and condolences to all his family and friends. Rest in peace, Joey.
