Heidi Marie Rodrigues

Heidi Marie Rodrigues of Toronto, Ontario passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at the age of 72 after a long and strenuous battle with cancer. She is lovingly remembered by her children Anthony and Kate (Graham) as well as her cousin, Jutta of Germany.

Heidi was born in Landsweiler, Germany in 1950. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elfriede and Erich Hemmer who immigrated to Canada in 1954.

Heidi’s wickedly dry and sarcastic wit helped bring humor and light to conversations with her loved ones about the difficult realities she was facing. She was a progressive thinker and a feminist. She loved traveling, had an adventurous culinary spirit and appreciated the arts, especially theatre.

She took her final steps with dignity, stopping to celebrate those blessed occasions, like the marriage of Kate to Graham in 2021. She mourned the loss of her dear friend, Harold, summoning all of her energy to attend his funeral one month before her own passing.

The family would like to thank Heidi’s neighbours, Cindy and Barry of Glenfern Avenue, Toronto for their care and compassion. She made the Beaches neighbourhood her home for almost 40 years.
