Helen Tennyson

Only occasionally in a lifetime do you meet someone who moves gracefully through their day with kindness, love, humour, and positivity. Helen touched the hearts of everyone she met. It is with heavy hearts that Helen’s beloved family and adoring friends announce her passing.

Helen was born in London, Ontario to German-born parents and was one of four siblings. With an adventurous spirit and a fierce independence, she left home at the age of 18 to travel the world. Her early years were spent exploring new places and experiences, eventually settling out west where she built a vibrant career in the arts. It was there she met the love of her life, Wilmat Tennyson. Together, they shared 30 beautiful years of devotion, love, and enduring friendship.

Helen and Wilmat were a remarkable pair — united in passion and purpose. They were strong supporters and sponsors of events at Spruce Meadows, Tennis Canada, and the Toronto Humane Society, among other causes close to their hearts.

Helen lived in a charming coach house in Toronto, where she loved to host parties and entertain with her signature style and warmth. A lover of the theatre, an avid cook, a music enthusiast, and a crossword wizard, she embraced life with curiosity and joy. Her love of animals was especially evident in the bond she shared with her cherished dog, Beau. She adored a handwritten note, treasuring every one she received.

Helen had a deep appreciation for the world’s beauty. Her home was filled with keepsakes and stories from her travels across continents. She brought grace and flair to everything she did and was known for her timeless style, quick wit, and generous heart.

Helen is survived by her loving family and countless friends who became like family. She will be deeply missed more than words can say, and we are all the better for having known and loved her.

As per Helen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
