August 3, 1928- October 6, 2015
Passed away peacefully, at the Toronto East General Hospital after a short illness, on her wedding anniversary to her late husband, Eric. Helga will be lovingly remembered by her sons and daughter, Martin (the late Dorothy), David (Debra), Harold (Sara), and Heather (Miguel). Cherished Oma to Jonathan and Shonda. Helga will also be missed by her many friends and extended family in Austria, England and Australia.
Born in Austria, but staunchly proud of her adopted country, Canada, Helga spent most of her working years with the F.W. Woolworth company, where she made many friends, some lifelong. Helga loved to volunteer her time to organizations, including the Beach Garden Society and the Boy Scout Ladies Auxiliary, and loved to spend time out with her friends at the Potpourri Dinner Club and Saturday afternoons listening to Danny Marks at the Rex Hotel.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Parkinson Society Canada http://www.parkinson.ca/, Nature Conservancy Canada http://www.natureconservancy.ca/ or any animal or environmental charity of your choice.
Cremation has taken place and a gathering to celebrate Helga’s life will take place at a later date and time. Friends may contact the family for more information at [email protected].
If wealth was measured in friendship, Helga would have been the richest woman in the world.
